Mechanical Design Engineering Students Take Vibration Measurements on Production Pumps

Semarang, Central Java – Students from the Mechanical Design Engineering Study Program at Diponegoro University showed their commitment to developing practical skills through the Project Based Learning (PBL) approach. In this collaborative initiative, Beta and Devanta students joined in projects aimed at analyzing and improving energy efficiency at PT Pertamina (Persero) AFT Juanda, while also devising innovations in the field of mechanical engineering. Supervised by Alaya Fadllu Hadi Mukhammad, ST, M.Eng., these students are actively involved in energy audit activities which aim to provide in-depth insight into energy use in the facility, as well as finding creative solutions to increase operational efficiency and sustainability.

In this project, students are asked to perform the following tasks:

    1. Knowing Energy Usage Patterns: Students will analyze existing energy usage patterns at PT Pertamina AFT Juanda and explore the energy conservation efforts that have been carried out. This aims to gain a better understanding of how energy is used and managed at the facility.
    2. Analyzing Energy Conservation Opportunities: Next, students will identify opportunities for energy conservation at PT Pertamina AFT Juanda. Using their knowledge of mechanical and energy engineering principles, they will perform in-depth analysis to determine areas where energy efficiency can be improved.
    3. Providing Energy Efficiency Program Recommendations: Based on the findings from their energy audit, students will prepare recommendations or proposed action plans to improve energy efficiency at PT Pertamina AFT Juanda. These recommendations will include practical steps that can be implemented to reduce energy consumption and improve overall energy performance.
